O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance. ~Psalm 16:5,6.

Mitered Squares Blanket - for the last time
Joan took pictures of her new Mitered Squares Blanket in her room. Her photo shows more of the blanket than mine did.
Gorgeous! But I was falling over myself telling you how much I love your blanket yesterday, I know............... Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
What a beautiful blanket! How did you do the border and with what kind of needle(s)? It must have been challenging to manage the bulkiness while working on the border. I made a "Mason-Dixon Moderne" baby blanket, and towards the end of the project the interchangeable circular needles I was using popped apart several times.
This gorgeous blanket is a such a meaningful gift for your daughter, I think it is destined to become a family heirloom.
I made the "picture frame" border recommended in Mason-Dixon Knitting, knitting each side separately in garter stitch, then seaming the corners together. I used Addi Turbo circular needles in US size 8.
I tried to tell you so the other day, but blogger wouldn't load, so I'll tell you again: that came out beautifully! It's so striking! I wondered, looking at the work in progress, but really is gorgeous.
Thank you for the information. Maybe you used the 60" or 47" Addi circular? If I remember correctly from when I had the Mason-Dixon book out of the library, it doesn't comment on circular lengths. For both a border and a shawl that I tried I probably should have had a longer circular needle. For the border I ended up substituting crochet. For the shawl I revised the latter part of the directions, decreasing instead of continuing the increases and making a small blanket.
