Chai oatmeal

I saw this recipe for chai oatmeal last weekend and decided I had to make it. Because I did not have the cardamom pods, and because I don't cook my oatmeal in milk, I modified the recipe slightly, using ground spices instead of whole ones.

Chai Oatmeal
1 c. water
1/4 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. cloves
a dash of nutmeg
a dash of salt
1 T. honey
1/2 c. oats

In small saucepan bring water, spices, honey and salt to a boil. Add oats and lower heat. Cook until desired consistency. Makes 1 serving.

I made this for breakfast for the last two days using quick oats, but I'd like to try it with the steel cut oats sometime. It was delicious and satisfied my chai cravings, but I'm sure the original recipe tastes even better.

Yum!

I love oatmeal. I should branch out with more spices. I usually just do raisins and brown sugar.
