Nests
Because we are in a drought I have to water quite a few plants in the yard and on the porches. I usually water the hanging ferns every other day, but very carefully, because we have little tenants living in them.
A few weeks ago this nest had three eggs in it. The eggs hatched, the birds grew, and finally we enjoyed a day or two of watching wobbly "teenage" birds test their wings and become adept at flying - and landing.
I just noticed this pile of "trash" in this fern yesterday and realized that somebody is doing a little nest constructing.
And this one had four eggs in it, but I could only see one baby hatchling when I watered the last two times.

Hey Laura. I saw your comment on the Pirates post...I did stay to the very end and I was still thinking it was not the happy ending I hoped for, but Wendy said they have left it open for a part 4...I thought they were done with part 3...don't know that I will see another one. Can't wait for Harry Potter! The movies do not compare to the books at all, but they are still fun. Which one is coming out first this summer? Do you know? The new book or the new movie?
The nests are so cool! I love the little baby bird picture...does the mommy still come back after you have been that close?
Have a great weekend. When are you coming here?
The birds love your ferns. How fun to be able to keep an eye on their progress.
Meg, I may be wrong, but I think the movie starts July 11 and the book is released July 21.
Yes, the mommy birds come back after I leave the porch.
I'll be up in VA on the 28th, leaving before dawn on the 30th to get ahead of the crazy beach crowd.
