Morning view

Each morning for nearly a month now, this has been my view from about 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. The newspaper, a book, coffee (and more waiting in the heavy-duty thermos), and some knitting keep me occupied while I watch the puppy play.

Not being a morning person, this early routine was not something I looked forward to at first, but as the days passed I liked it more. It's pretty quiet here in the morning. Not many vehicles pass on the street. Occasionally a few people out for their morning walks come by, but mostly I have the morning to myself. Well, I share it with the puppy and with the other dogs. And the cats. And the birds. It's been a good way to start the day before the busyness takes over.

And in the evening from 6:00 p.m. until about 8:00 p.m. I watch the puppy again, but usually with great company.

Looks peaceful.....

wondering if you have a favorite devotional book?

Mine is Spurgeon's Morning and Evening. Today's was particularly pertinent for me today ;-)

Spurgeon's Morning and Evening is my favorite, too, Dana!

Last year my dad gave each of his children and grandchildren leatherbound copies of My Utmost for His Highest, and I read that at night. I read both the morning and the evening selections from Spurgeon in the morning.

Morning and Evening is my favorite too!

You know, I'm somewhat surprised to find that you are not a morning person... you strike me as one who would savor the first quiet moments of the day. Sounds like you're learning too!

Sam was so sweet yesterday cooing over Little Miss, he said, "She's so cute. She has the most charming [I think he meant FAT] cheeks." Sweet boy!

that sounds just absolutely lovely. like you're not hurried through your day. . .
I've been having my tea on our porch at 6am while working on proofreading a book. it's so fresh and quiet, even in the city.

I love that time of the day. It's my favorite for the reasons you mentioned. I really adore how quiet it is and the light and the air. Your puppy is so darn cute.
