Reading through the Bible for Lent

Several years ago I started reading my Bible from Genesis to Revelation during Lent. This Lenten Bible reading was done in addition to my daily Bible reading plan that allows me to read through the Bible in a year.

Reading straight through the Bible in 40 days has been an educational and exciting experience and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

I'm intrigued, Laura. How much time to you need to spend reading each day to accomplish that?

Depends - if I get so engrossed that I slow down and look at cross-references, it can take a loooong time!

Last year I found that usually it didn't take more than an hour, although some books, like Genesis and Deuteronomy, I read half in the morning, and half at night, for a total of perhaps 1 1/2 hours per book.

Breaking up the reading to space it to be done throughout the day is a marvelous way to do it, too.

Today I took 1 hour and 6 minutes to read Genesis.

Why have I never heard of this before?

Now I'm trying to figure out if I can cover the seven days I've missed and still get it done. Aye!

I'm going to print this out and start in.

Thanks (again and again),

Carol
