The Good Husband of Zebra Drive
You've heard of "dinner and a movie," but lately I've been enjoying "a drink and a book." Alexander McCall Smith has scored again with his latest in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series. The Good Husband of Zebra Drive is just as good, if not better, than the seven books that precede it.
In this latest installment, Mma Ramotswe, her husband, Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, and her secretary, Mma Makutsi, all investigate cases. Each has a different style, and life on Tlokweng Road is intertwined throughout. Like the other books, this one is nice. It is mild. It is plain, everyday life. I savored this book for over a week - limiting myself to a few pages or a chapter per sitting. It ended too soon. But... I found the perfect drink to accompany my reading: Tetley Vanilla & Pear Rooibos Tea. Now if Mr. McCall Smith would kindly write a little faster and oblige me with book #9 before a year has passed, I will be most grateful.

That's the one and only problem I have with his books - I can't force myself to slow down and savor them. I sit down w/ a fresh pot of coffee and absolutely INHALE them. When the children come to me, looking a bit hungry, I'm always shocked to find I've got only a chapter or two left... and it's nearly suppertime. :-S
How do you *say* "Mma"?

This sounds like a series I need to get started on. I love to read, but save it for the evening right before bed. Because I'm usually tired, I fall asleep quickly and a book lasts a long time. I don't get through many books in a year, but I do enjoy them and I absolutely cannot fall asleep without reading.
Dy, we have one of the books in audio version, and the woman who reads it pronounces it as "mmmmmaaah."
It's an easy series to inhale, but the books also wear well when I reread them, so I buy them because I know they will be read many times.
I really like this author, too, and I love Rooibos tea, but I hadn't heard of this flavour! :0)
I'm currently reading this but I'm limiting it to bedtime also so that it lasts longer.
