Making an appetizer

Making appetizers is not one of my strengths.

Tonight I have to take finger-food (not sweet) to a meeting. Thankfully, I remembered that I have this old (1958) Good Housekeeping cookbook that I got from my mom.

I read through it and immediately discarded the recipes which included chicken livers or anchovies. While I would eat those, I'm relatively certain that few other ladies at the meeting would.

This recipe with chicken, bacon, and apples sounded like a good autumn recipe, and since it's basically chicken salad, I think it will be appropriate "lady-food."

Lots of babies; lots of bibs

Two more women had church recently had their babies, and two more are due in the next few weeks. I'm running behind on baby gifts. For awhile I was crocheting lots of blankets and baby bibs, then I had a surplus so I quit. Now I realize that there is no such thing as a surplus of baby gift items. There will always be more babies. Time to get busy again.

Now Marley has a new cap

Last night I knit Marley's cap with the leftover yarn from David's and Sam's caps. I have to finish some baby gifts, but I'd like to knit more caps soon. There's nothing so gratifying as starting and finishing a project in one night!

Caps for my boys

On Friday night I knit a cap for David. On Saturday night I knit a cap for Sam. With Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick and US 15 dpn's, it doesn't take very long.

Tonight I hope to knit one for Marley so she won't have to borrow from her brothers.
