When you get two knitters together...

...they knit.  Penny and I knit while we waited at the hospital for Liam to be born.
She worked on a silk shawl, and I worked on a cotton dishcloth.  And before too much time had passed, we had the best little knit-together-by-God-in-his-mother's-womb grandson!

August knitting

It's very hot and humid now - just the right weather for knitting with cotton.

Sarah starts school soon, and I knit a few dishcloths for her and her roommate to use:

I also bought a few skeins of mercerized cotton to knit washcloths for her. I've never used mercerized cotton for anything other than garments before, and I'm interested to see how this turns out.

They will not be finished before she leaves, so I'm thinking they'll go into the first "care package" we send her.
